Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on the Rise
Good luck trying to get tickets to see Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s, “The Heist World Tour” because they are completely sold out in the United States (well, except for the Florida show and the Fun Fun Fun Festival in Austin, TX). This comes as no surprise after listening to their album, “The Heist” that was released on October 9, 2012. Within hours of releasing, “The Heist” was the No. 1 downloaded album on the iTunes charts. Here are the songs you’re going to want to checkout. Seriously though, you’d be a fool not to: Thrift Shop, Same Love, Irish Celebration, and the Otherside. (You’re welcome!)

Buffalo Heard DJ @ the TEDxBuffalo VIP Event
The Heard was last spotted at the Canisius College Montante Cultural Center on October 8th to DJ for the TEDxBuffalo VIP event. So many intelligent minds all in one place! Now that’s not intimidating at all. Check out the above hyperlink to see how beautiful the performing arts facility is. Who wouldn’t want to throw a party in there with top-notch acoustics? Illuminate Albright-Knox This Friday
The 1905 Albright Building will come alive with color, light, and movement this Friday, October 5, 2012
Similar to the recent light demonstration on the Buffalo Grain Elevator this late Tuesday, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery will be celebrating their 150th Anniversary by illuminating the Delaware Park side of the gallery, but with a twist! AK will be telling their story through lights, images, movement and music. This is the first large-scale 3D projection to occur in Western New York and something we at Buffalo Heard definitely won’t miss. There will be two shows happening on Friday, October 5, 2012, one at 7:30pm and the other at 8:30pm. Oh and it’s FREE! Check out the Ak website, here, for more details.

Music is Art Festival (MiAF)
On Saturday, September 15, 2012 there was an all day music festival in Delaware Park behind the Albright Knox Art Gallery. There were 11 stages, 100 bands, 70 artists and 200 dancers that performed between 10am and 10pm. The Music is Art Festival has been running for 10 years and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to finally attend one. I had an absolute blast! What I love about music is that it can bring people from various demographics together in one place. I saw kids singing karaoke on stage, grandmothers hippie dancing, foodies (so many trucks!), zombies and it wouldn’t be a music festival without the lone dancers off by a tree or directly in front of a DJ, tripping out, dancing rapidly within their own private sphere.
The Festival was well done and I really enjoyed myself. What amazed me was that it was completely free for the community of Buffalo to enjoy. My favorite artist, from the photo above, that I caught was DJ Arehouse. He was killing it on the Sky Mound Stage by Hoyt Lake. He was mixing up some delightful soulful classics. Looking forward to next year’s festival.
The Lighthouse and the Whaler – Little Vessels (free download)
This band is a new favorite of mine. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio The Lighthouse and the Whaler is an indie-pop band that will soon be a household name as they gradually make appearances at music festivals and on radio stations throughout the U.S. Take a listen to the above song, “Little Vessels” to get a taste for their sound. It’s more folky than pop I think. If you like The Head and the Heart or Pearl and the Beard you will definitely be into the Lighthouse and the Whaler.
